Autistic 5-year-old Texas Boy Found Dead Hours After Reported Missing

Law Enforcement in Rains County, Texas, announced Friday morning that a missing East Texas boy was found deceased Thursday on his family’s property.

According to the Rains County Sheriff’s Office, 5-year-old Miguel, described as non-verbal and autistic, was found a little before 9 p.m. Thursday, deceased in a pond near his home on FM 2737.

Police said the child was reported missing at around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, wearing a light blue shirt with Dr. Seuss characters on it. The search ended a few hours later after law enforcement found a body that matched Miguel’s description.

“Our hearts are heavy regarding the result of yesterday evenings call for service. There are no words that I can convey to help all that were involved directly or indirectly in this incident,” Rains County Sheriff, Michael Hopkins, said.

“My heart goes out to the family and all Rains County Citizens that this has affected.”
