Dad Beaten to Death After Group of Teens & Adults Attack Him for Protecting Son: Reports

A Maryland father was fatally beaten outside his home while shielding his children from a group who arrived at his home uninvited, following a school-related altercation.

According to NBC 11 News, three teenagers and two adults confronted Christopher Michael Wright, 43, outside his home in Brooklyn Park on Friday. The group was reportedly looking for his fiancée’s 14-year-old son, who had been involved in a fight earlier that day with another teenager at Brooklyn Park Middle School.

“Chris came out to tell them, like, he’s not coming out here to fight, and they threatened at one point to come in and get him, and then they said, ‘If he’s not going to fight, then you’re going to fight,'”  Wright’s fiancée, Tracy Karopchinsky told 11 News.

Following the attack, Wright was rushed to an area hospital where he passed away from a traumatic brain injury.

“Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn’t just punching that did that,” Kaprochinsky added. “Like, there’s no way that punching did that. The damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away. I mean, he’d had a seizure. It was done. There was nothing that the hospital could do.”

A neighbor’s security camera, along with Wright’s camera, recorded the incident as it unfolded.

So far, no charges have been filed but police confirmed that they’re investigating and charges could possibly follow. Fox News Digital reports that police are searching for three or four suspects described as white males.

School officials also acknowledged that a fight occurred at school before the fatal incident. The officials are now working with detectives.

“Anyone who assisted who abetted or was an accomplice of the main suspect or the primary suspect will be culpable,” Anne Arundel County police spokesman Marc Limansky said.

Anyone with any information should contact the Homicide Unit at (410) 222-4731 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at (410) 222-4700.
