Delphi Murders: Judge to Release Sealed Documents That Helped Put Accused Child Killer Behind Bars

Judge Fran Gull has reportedly promised to release certain sealed documents in the Delphi murder case against Richard Allen this week, following requests by a lawyer and several podcasters.

According to Fox 59, years before Allen’s 2022 arrest, police interviewed him in 2017, shortly after the deaths of Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14. The details of the report have been sealed.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Allen is currently behind bars in connection with the murders of both girls. They were found murdered near the Monon High Bridge in Delphi, Indiana, after taking an outing to the bridge in February 2017.

Court documents indicate that investigators relied on Allen’s 2017 interview and an unfired bullet discovered at the murder scene to arrest and charge him.

Due to concerns about jeopardizing the investigation, investigators and the prosecution pushed to keep several crucial documents under seal. Several people and entities, including “The Murder Sheet,” subsequently filed a request, asking the judge to reconsider.

”In this case, things were being filed, the defense was not asking for them to be sealed, the prosecution was not requesting them to be sealed, but they were all getting sealed,” Kevin Greenlee, a podcaster with “Murder Sheet,” said.

“That violates the procedure and actually resulted in a lot of confusion for the public about what’s actually going on in this important case.”

“With a search warrant there is usually a return filed and a return in a search warrant is basically a list of everything that was taken from the residence in question so it would be very interesting and informative for the public to see just what evidence was taken from the Allen residence.”

Gull said some of the documents will be released at some point this week.
