‘Please, I know someone knows something’: Virginia Mother’s Disappearance Considered Suspicious

A missing Virginia mother’s family is pushing for answers after she vanished without a trace earlier last week, and local police have now labeled her disappearance as “suspicious.”

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, 20-year-old Avriel Hooks’ family said they last saw her at around 8 p.m. on August 22, then reported her missing the following morning. Pittman’s mother, Ashley Pittman, said she received a text from her last Tuesday but the message didn’t seem like it was from Hook.

Following the text, Pittman went to Hook’s Lynchburg home the following day and found the doors unlocked and lights turned on, but no signs of Hook.

“Please please please, I know someone knows something,” Pittman said on Monday.

Pittman said Hook has a 5-month-old son that she would never willingly leave, Pittman said, according to ABC 13.

“You want to have all the hope in the world but you look around and see how awful a place we can make it so it’s hard to have hope, but you want to. You really, really want to,” Pittman added.

A prayer service is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Friday at Pittman’s home, at 1820 Florida Avenue in Lynchburg. The event starts at around 7:15 p.m.

Hooks is described as a white female who stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs between 140-150 pounds. She has dyed red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, black leggings and pink nail polish.

Anyone with information on Hooks’ whereabouts should call Detective C.T. Davis at 434-455-6166 or contact the Lynchburg Police Department.
