An Indiana couple, both convicted sex offenders, will spend decades in prison for atrocious sexual abuse and acts on a young child.

The Herald Bulletin reports that Madison Circuit Court Division 1 Judge Angela Warner-Sims sentenced Michael Simpson and Tequilla Simpson to serve 58 years each in prison, on a slew of child sexual abuse convictions.

According to court documents, in a 2020 forensic interview at the Kids TALK Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim disclosed that sexual abuse had started about two years earlier, when she was 9, with Michael Simpson molesting her nearly every morning before she left for school.

The couple also engaged in sexual activities in front of the victim.

Michael Simpson once tied the victim to her bed while performing sexual acts on her. Fox 59 reports that Tequilla Simpson was in the room when her husband tied the victim up.

Meanwhile, Tequilla Simpson forced the child to wear lingerie, according to court documents, and made her perform dances in front of Michael Simpson. When the victim refused on one occasion, Tequilla slapped her so hard that the child complied.

Due to the severity of the crimes, the relationship between the child and the couple has not been revealed.

This isn’t the first time the defendants have been in legal trouble. In 2018, the pair was convicted of having an unlawful relationship with another child, 15. They were sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by an additional 18 months on probation.
