‘Nobody just vanishes’: Son Mysteriously Disappears While Aboard Carnival Cruise Ship for Father’s 60th Birthday

Miami police are searching for a missing man who boarded a Carnival cruise ship for a family celebration, then inexplicably vanished.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, Kevin McGrath, 26, was last seen Monday morning aboard the Carnival cruise ship Conquest. A family member later reported him missing, CBS News reports. He was supposed to meet his family Monday morning for breakfast but never showed.

“[He was] last seen in his cabin at approximately 7 a.m. according to his cabinmate,” Carnival said, adding that after an “extensive” search, no one could find him.

“My family and I went on a Carnival Conquest Cruise for my father’s 60th birthday celebration. There was at least 30-40 family/friends with us. My brother went missing between the hours of 3.30pm and 7 am before the rest of us woke up on September 4,” Kevin’s sister said, according to DailyMail.

“Nobody just vanishes. Someone will be held liable for the disappearance of my brother. If Carnival is not able to account for every passenger that gets on and off that boat, I will personally make sure that Carnival Conquest never sets sail again!”

McGrath was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts and grey shoes. Cameras aboard the ship reportedly did not show McGrath going overboard and did not show him getting off the ship with other passengers.

“The guest was not detected by surveillance systems, including U.S. Customs and Border Patrol during the debarkation process,” Carnival said in a statement.

Coast Guard crews will continue to search “near the Port of Miami and along the South Florida shore,” NBC News reports.

Anyone with any information concerning McGrath’s whereabouts is urged to contact Miami-Dade police at 305-715-3300.
