9-year-old Charlotte Sena Found in Different Clothing & Hidden in Cupboard, Accused Child Snatcher in Underwear

A New York man accused of kidnapping a young girl on Saturday was reportedly captured on his mother’s property, wearing only his underwear.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, police arrested 46-year-old Craig N. Ross Jr. at a camper van behind his mother’s property in Porters Corners, New York, on Monday, following the disappearance of Charlotte Sena, 9.

Charlotte was abducted over the weekend while riding her bike at New York’s Moreau Lake State Park on a camping trip with her family.

The Albany Times-Union reports that police found the suspect in his underwear around 14 hours after he left a ransom note at the Sena family’s home, also in Porters Corner. Charlotte was found hidden inside a cabinet, “in a sweatshirt,” according to what New York State Police Lt. Col. Richard Allen told NewsNation.

“She was in different clothing [when she was found],” Allen said. “She was in a sweatshirt, which was not the clothing she had on when she was taken [Saturday evening].”

Officials said Monday that the suspect was living in the camper van behind his mother’s home. Investigators are now questioning Ross Jr.’s mother, although at this point, they don’t believe anyone else was involved in the kidnapping.

“The mother was in the house, which is directly in front of the camper which is in the backyard,” Allen, told NewsNation.

“We are working with her and interviewing her and as far as charges on her, it’s, it’s too early to say what may or may not happen there. We’re still trying to determine what she did know and didn’t know at the time.”

Charlotte, who was said to be found “in good health,” has since been reunited with her family.

The suspect was booked on a first-degree kidnapping charge. He’s being held at the Saratoga County Jail without bond.
