Developing: Unidentified Woman Found with Hands Tied Along South Carolina River Bank

South Carolina deputies are trying to determine the identity of a woman found along the bank of a South Carolina river in Jasper County.

According to The Island Packet, the woman, who police identified only as “white,” was found at around 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the Corner Lake boat landing.

Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was taken to the hospital. Although she’s responsive, it’s unclear why she’s unable to provide her name or details.

He didn’t give an estimated time that the victim had been at the boat landing before being discovered. He also declined to divulge additional information, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Packet reports that the investigation is being led by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, with support from the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
