Developing: 5-Year-Old Missing Autistic Boy Found Face Down, Dead in Water

A Pennsylvania boy is dead after wandering from home and drowning in a nearby pond in Kennett Township, police say.

According to NBC Philadelphia, Kennett Township police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Chandler Mill Road in Kennett Square at around 2:45 p.m. on April 29, in connection with a missing 5-year-old autistic boy.

After searching nearby neighborhoods and a large wooded area for the child, officers discovered him submerged in a pond on a neighbor’s property.

Despite efforts to save him by both police and medics, the child was pronounced dead at Dupont Hospital in Delaware.

“Before the requested backup arrived, Kennett Township Police found the missing boy face down in a pond on a neighbor’s property,” police said in a news statement.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Kennett Township Police Chief Matt Gordon at matthew.gordon@kennett.pa.us.
