Elijah Vue: Mom of Missing Wisconsin Tot Denied Bail, Considered Flight Risk as Search Continues

A Wisconsin judge has rejected a request to modify bail for Katrina Baur, the mother of 3-year-old missing tot, Elijah Vue, who hasn’t been since February 20.

Katrina Baur, 31, made a court appearance in Manitowoc County on Tuesday morning, following her request for bail reduction. Her attorney petitioned on April 19 for her bail to be lowered from $15,000 cash to a signature bond.

According to WISN, a signature bond permits an inmate’s release without payment, contingent upon compliance with court-set conditions and a commitment to appear for future court proceedings.

The request was made “on the grounds that Ms. Baur is unable to post the cash bail as set.”

The court rejected the request due to uncertainties surrounding Elijah’s disappearance, with concerns surrounding Baur’s potential failure to appear for future court appearances.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Elijah was last seen on February 20 at an apartment in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road in Two Rivers, in the care of his mother’s boyfriend, Jesse Vang.

Vang was subsequently arrested on child neglect charges. Baur was subsequently arrested and charged with being a party to child neglect. Vang said Baur allowed Elijah to stay with him for several weeks, starting on February 12, for reported behavioral issues.

A criminal complaint stated that Vang reported the child missing, claiming that he brought Elijah into a bedroom with him at around 8 a.m., and ordered him to stand next to the bed and pray. Vang claimed he fell asleep and when he woke up three hours later, the child was gone.

Investigators have gathered evidence near Vang’s apartment, including a shoe matching the description of what Elijah was wearing when he disappeared.
