PICTURED: Four Victims Dead, Three Injured After Killer Opens Fire at Kentucky Birthday Party

An early morning mass shooting at a birthday party in Kentucky rendered four people dead and three injured on Saturday.

During a 21st birthday celebration at a private residence in Florence, Chase Garvey, 21, “just showed up,” as Police Chief Jeff Mallory said at a press conference, and began shooting at the partygoers, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Upon officers’ arrival at 2:51 a.m., “they could still hear gunshots,” Chief Mallory said. “They approached the residence and saw multiple victims. Partygoers told the police that the suspect had fled.”

Since Garvey was known to the partygoers, they were able to give law enforcement a description of his vehicle. Arriving officers saw the vehicle and began pursuit.

Garvey led the officers on a chase that began near Farmview Drive and US-42 and ended when he drove his car into a ditch at Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike.

Mallory believes the suspect shot himself while driving, causing the crash. He was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, according to Fox 19 Now.

“A Boone County deputy attempted to stop the vehicle,” Chief Mallory continued. “A pursuit ensued, traveling south on I-42 into Union, the suspect shot himself and crashed his vehicle.”

Garvey was known to law enforcement. He was convicted of two felony sex crimes in 2021 for first-degree rape and second-degree sodomy of a 13-year-old, as reported by New York Post.

The three injured victims were taken to UC Health Hospital, where Mallory said they should make a full recovery.

During the press conference, Chief Mallory listed the four victims that succumbed to their injuries:

  • Shane Miller, 20, of Florence
  • Hayden Rybicki, 20, of Elsmere
  • Delaney Eary, 19, of Burlington
  • Melissa Parrett, 44, of Florence

Law enforcement is unsure of the motive at this time, and this is an ongoing investigation.
