OJ Simpson: California Attorney Sues for Over $1M in Alleged Unpaid Legal Fees

A California attorney claims that OJ Simpson left behind over $1.1 million in legal fees before his 2024 death.

Lawyer Ronald Slates filed the lawsuit Friday against the executor of Simpson’s estate, Malcolm LaVergne. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Slates represented Simpson numerous times since 2006.

Simpson allegedly racked up $1,147,373 in legal fees that he never paid, a 56-page complaint stated, filed by Slates’ lawyer, Michael Pruitt.

The lawsuit occurred after LaVergne agreed earlier this year to pay Ron Goldman’s father, Fred Goldman, nearly $58 million, almost 30 years after a civil lawsuit against Simpson.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, on June 12, 1994, Ron Goldman and OJ’s former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, were found murdered outside of her Los Angeles condominium. On October 3, 1995, a jury acquitted OJ Simpson of murder.

In 1997, a California judge found Simpson liable for the deaths of Ron and Nicole’s death, following the civil suit.

Pruitt stated that Slates had represented Simpson on various legal matters, with the assumption that the fees would be paid.

The majority of the legal fees have never been paid, according to the lawsuit. In November, LaVergne allegedly rejected the claim.

On Friday, LaVergne told the Review-Journal that the matter would be handled in an “ordinary course,” as with Simpson’s other legal matters.
