AMBER Alert: Police Seek Tips on Missing Texas Girl in ‘Immediate Danger’

An AMBER Alert has been issued for a missing Texas teen who has not been seen since Monday morning, after leaving the Bexar County jail in San Antonio.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 17-year-old Southwest Preparatory School student Briana Guerra was seen on security footage at around 8 a.m., in the 1100 block of West Commerce Street.

Authorities said she is in “immediate danger,” with possible mental health concerns, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.

Guerra attended a Community Bible Church convention on Saturday before her mother picked her up, San Antonio Express News reports.

Police later arrested her on a family assault charge, then released her “in the midst of a mental health episode.”

“We begged them not to take her,” her mother, Raquel Guerra, told the outlet, adding that she left her money and home behind when arrested.

“I explained over and over again, she missed her dosage of medicine because she went to the convention.”

Briana’s father reportedly went to the jail with Briana’s medication, but the jail informed him she would be released soon. At around 1 a.m. he returned and and was told she would be released in a few hours.

Upon release at around 3 a.m., Briana vanished.

She was last seen in denim jeans, a blue short-sleeved shirt, and glitter Crocs.

“We don’t understand how they could let a minor just walk out of there, especially if she they have been warned several times over she had mental illness,” her mother said.

Raquel added that Briana fled one time in 2024, after her brother was killed, News4SA reports.

Briana is described as standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at (210) 335-6000 or email missingpersons@bexar.org.
