Woman killed in cold blood outside mall was shot by husband she was divorcing

A man who fatally shot his wife outside a Fort Worth mall before killing himself was undergoing divorce proceedings, officials said.

On Monday afternoon, Leslie Bradley, 47, called 911 to report someone shooting at her as she sat in Ridgmar Mall’s parking lot. According to The Dallas Morning News, police spokesman Bradley Perez said the victim, who was found with several gunshot wounds, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.

Police identified the suspect as Leslie’s husband, David Bailey, 45, and issued a statewide alert for him, including a description of his car and a license plate number. Authorities spotted David on Interstate 35 in Central Texas later that night. Slowed down by construction traffic, the 45-year-old shot himself in the head while in his car, the Temple Daily Telegram reported.

Though Perez disclosed earlier this week that the Ridgmar Mall shooting was domestic in nature, he declined to provide additional details, according to the Star-Telegram.

The couple supposedly had a lengthy history of legal and domestic issues. In February, David was involved in a police standoff where he supposedly threatened to harm himself outside of his home. InForney.com reported that he was apprehended without incident after three hours and underwent a mental health evaluation.

The Morning News reported that the husband was arrested just last month for violating a protection order. He was released after posting bond.

The paper also claimed David and Leslie were in the middle of a divorce—something they filed for several times since 2005. At the time of the fatal shooting, David’s Facebook page allegedly indicated that he was in “a complicated relationship.”
