Nurse accused of sexually assaulting sedated patients

An Adairsville, Georgia, nurse is accused of groping several women’s breasts while they were under anesthesia.

According to the Atlanta-based news service Reporter Newspapers, two pastors told authorities they received information that Michael Morgan, a nurse at Northern Crescent Endoscopy and Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in Sandy Springs, had lifted patients’ bras and touched their breasts while they were sedated.

Morgan, 33, reportedly turned himself in on Friday. According to Reporter Newspapers, he is charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of custodial sexual assault.

Though Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates didn’t disclose whether the company still employs Morgan, they provided WAGA with the following statement:

“We take patient safety very seriously and are shocked and concerned about this allegation. We conduct background checks as part of our hiring process and have procedures in place to maintain a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation and cannot provide any additional information.”

Sandy Springs Police Department Sgt. Sam Worsham indicated there may be more victims.

“We’re still reaching out to try to notify and locate additional victims and if you have any additional persons that have information about this case we’re asking you to contact the Sandy Springs Police Department,” Sgt. Worsham told WAGA.

Morgan is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail without bond.
