Police: Groomsman sexually assaults teen bridesmaid, gives her chlamydia

A 29-year-old Pennsylvania man will serve prison time for having sex with a teen bridesmaid, who may have contracted chlamydia from the encounter.

John Sylvester Young, 29, pleaded guilty last week to statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor after other alleged crimes against him were dropped, according to the New York Post.

The charges came after a September wedding near Pittsburgh in which Young and the 15-year-old victim were paired members of the wedding party.

Young gave the girl multiple alcoholic drinks and kissed and touched her during a reception at a hotel, according to police.

The girl then went to Young’s hotel room around 4 a.m. the next morning and the two had sex, police said.

Over the following two weeks, Young asked the girl to send him nude photos of herself, which she did using the social media application Snapchat.

A relative of the girl — the groom at the wedding — later confronted Young, who admitted that the girl was in his hotel room and that she had sent him nude photos of herself, according to police.

In November, the victim was diagnosed with chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease, according to the Tribune-Democrat. At that time, the girl told investigators that she had not been sexually active with anyone except for Young.

An Allegheny County judge sentenced Young to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison, followed by five years of probation. Young also must register as a sex offender for life and may not have contact with the girl, court records show.
