ON THE RUN: Violent ex-con allegedly lights pregnant girlfriend on fire in front of her two young kids

Police are looking for a Hialeah, Florida, man after he allegedly dousing his pregnant girlfriend with gasoline and lit her on fire—all in front of her two young children, as reported by WFLA.

Authorities have stated that Noel Grullon, 32, torched his pregnant girlfriend Thursday morning following an argument about cigarettes. Deciding to break up the night before, Grullon was recklessly searching for cigarettes before Allyson Rivera, 27, led him out of the home so he didn’t wake the children, according to a police report obtained by WPLG.

Grullon then grabbed a canister of gasoline, poured it on her, got a lighter, and lit her ablaze in the presence of her children, investigators have noted. Police said the expecting mother managed to get her shirt off and extinguish the fire in the shower. She sustained second-degree burns to her upper torso in the alleged attack, but survived.

The victim managed to get her kids to a neighbor’s home and had another friend take her to the hospital. A family member told WFLA that Rivera’s unborn child is expected to be okay.

“It took most of the day for her to finally admit to a social worker what had really happened to her. At first, she was saying it was a barbecuing accident,” Hialeah Police Sergeant Carl Zogby told CBS News.

Sergeant Zogby told CBS that Grullon has prior convictions for armed robbery, armed carjacking, kidnapping, aggravated battery, grand theft, burglary, and criminal mischief. In fact, he was released from prison just eight months ago after serving a 12-year sentence for carjacking and robbery.

Grullon, who also goes by Noel Castro, is not the father of Rivera’s children, ages 1 and 4.

Hialeah Police said the 32-year-old fled the scene in a 2007 black Ford pickup truck with the Florida tag HVDE62. The victim remains hospitalized as of Friday night.

“He has been lucky for about a day and a half,” Sergeant Zogby told WPLG. “His luck is going to run out.”
