‘The perfect couple’: Man posts wedding photo to Facebook just before allegedly killing wife, self in apparent murder-suicide

A British man changed his profile picture to an image from his wedding day hours before allegedly killing his wife and himself.

According to the BBC, the bodies of James and Amy Barnes, both in their 30s, were found in homes 20 miles apart on Tuesday: Amy was found at the home she shared with her husband and James was found dead at his parent’s home.

Authorities are treating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

“At this early stage, it’s understood the woman was murdered before the man took his own life in the garden of the Streetly address,” West Midlands police said.

The Telegraph reports that two hours before Amy’s body was found, James updated his Facebook profile photo to one showing them on their wedding day in 2014.

Friends of Amy and James described them as “the perfect couple.” Amy is believed to have worked for several years at a neonatal unit in a women’s hospital. James studied graphic design and computer games modeling and animation, according to his Facebook page.

“I wasn’t aware they had any problems because they just seemed like the perfect pair who were just really starting their lives as a married couple together,” a neighbor told The Telegraph.

“I can’t really say much more than that as I’m still in complete shock. They were really friendly and I just feel so sad this had happened. Such a tragedy.”

Authorities are currently investigating a motive. A police spokesman told the BBC that an autopsy is pending.
