Eddie Murphy has no interest in seeing young daughter, Mel B’s ex says

Comedian Eddie Murphy isn’t interested in seeing the 10-year-old daughter he shares with singer Mel B, her ex-husband claims.

Per the Daily Mail, the claims were brought forth by lawyers for the Spice Girl’s ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte. Belafonte, 42, is seeking stepfather visitation for Angel, who he claimed “has called me dad since she started to talk.”

Belafonte reportedly raised Angel during his 10-year marriage to Mel B, 42. Amid their messy divorce, Mel B has prevented Belafonte from seeing his stepdaughter, according to the Daily Mail.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Mel B has claimed that Belafonte is interfering with her daughter’s ability to have a relationship with her biological father.

Belafonte’s lawyer, Grace Jamra, revealed that she has reached out to Murphy with no success, but that she reached at attorney for him. The comedian purportedly told his lawyer he is “not interested” in a relationship with Angel, and has not responded to legal papers sent by Belafonte’s attorney.

“Mr. Murphy has had no contact with the child,” Jamra told the court.

Murphy, 56, and Mel B were in a brief relationship when Mel B got pregnant. Mel B was already dating Belafonte when she gave birth to Angel. A DNA test confirmed that Murphy was the father following Angel’s birth in April 2007, according to Music-News.

A judge previously awarded Belafonte joint custody of Madison, the six-year-old daughter he shares with the singer. Belafonte has since accused his ex-wife of violating their joint custody agreement.

Their seven-month court battle has included accusations of domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse. According to the Daily Mail, Mel B has called her ex-husband a “bad man” who has shown the children ISIS beheading videos. Belafonte has denied that accusation.
