One Texas bicyclist is in critical condition after a woman allegedly drove into a crowd of five cyclists traveling down a dark Galveston road Monday night.
The unnamed driver reportedly struck two people as they rode down 69th Street toward the seawall. Police claimed the woman turned onto the street moments before the 10 p.m. collision, according to KTRK.
Law enforcement noted that this stretch of road was poorly-lit and the cyclists didn’t have lights, only reflectors.
Both injured cyclists were taken to a nearby hospital—one with life-threatening injuries. KHOU reported that the cyclist’s latest condition is unavailable as of Tuesday morning.
Police haven’t announced charges in connection with Monday night’s accident.
