On Thursday morning, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in the slaying of Jahseh Onfroy, also known as XXXTentacion.
“In just more than 48 hours, #BSO [Broward Sheriff’s Office] homicide detectives arrested Dedrick Devonshay Williams for the murder of Jahseh Onfroy, also known as XXX Tentacion,” the Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced on their Facebook page. “Williams (dob 3/23/96) was taken into custody shortly before 7 p.m. in Pompano.”

Williams was arrested by Pompano Beach authorities and booked into jail on Wednesday night on charges including first-degree murder without premeditation, court records state.
The newly-famous rapper was was shot to death outside of a Deerfield Beach, Florida, business Monday in broad daylight, as previously reported by CrimeOnline.
In addition to the first-degree murder charge, Williams was booked Wednesday on charges of grand theft auto, and operating without a valid driver’s license.
Court records show that this isn’t Hedrick’s first run-in with the law. According to official documents, Williams has previously been charged with multiple felonies, including domestic violence, cocaine possession, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and grand theft auto.
NBC Miami spoke with neighbors of the suspected killer, who described Williams as a tattoo artist who brought noise to the neighborhood through the use of his all-terrain vehicles.
XXXTentacion was fatally shot after he was approached by two armed suspects as he left a car dealership, where he was looking at motorcycles. Authorities believe the motive in the murder to be robbery. Witnesses reportedly told police that a Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from the rap artist’s vehicle at the scene.
Several witnesses apparently told police that they saw two masked men flee the scene, though authorities didn’t identify other suspects at the time of publishing.
