A video appears to have captured the moments a Spirit Airlines passenger embarked on an expletive-filled tirade after the Minneapolis-bound flight made an emergency landing in Rochester, Minnesota.
KPRC reported that the 38-year-old woman featured in the video was possibly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as she ran up and down the aisle threatening fellow passengers and demanding to be let off the plane.
“Get me the f**k off this god-damn f*****g plane!” she’s heard screaming. “You want to be s**t and b***h to me? You’ll see me f*****g pissed.”
At one point, the woman can be seen rushing toward the cockpit as other passengers try to keep the peace and console one another.
“She was yelling at the two gentlemen that were trying to block her—it was very scary,” Chianti Washington, who shot the footage Monday morning, told ABC News. “She would just not stop, and as police escorted her off the aircraft continued to remain belligerent.”
Passenger Stephanie Calder told KHOU that the plane made an emergency landing after an attendant realized that a man aboard the plane wasn’t sleeping but was in a coma.
“All of a sudden that’s where the lady came running from the back of the plane,” Calder said. “She started saying she’s not going to calm down and wanted off the plane and such.”
In light of the ordeal, police said they sent the woman to a hospital for a mental evaluation after being told she was a military veteran battling PTSD.
In a statement issued to ABC, Spirit Airlines spokesman Stephen Schuler said a woman became “erratic and irate” and police removed her from the plane.
“We apologize to our guests who had to witness this and for the inconvenience of the delay. Safety is our top priority at Spirit Airlines,” he said.
