New York State Trooper killed responding to call for suicidal person

The slain trooper has been identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Clark

A New York State Trooper was killed Monday morning while responding to a call of a suicidal person, according to emerging reports.

Per the Star-Gazette, the slain trooper has been identified as Nicholas Clark, 29. Clark was reportedly responding to a 3:30 a.m. call at a Corning home near Corning Community College when he was fatally shot.

Following Clark’s shooting death, the suspect, Steven Kiley, 43, was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Gazette found that Kiley was listed as the principal of the Bradford Central School District.

The principal’s estranged wife is believed to have placed the 911 call where she indicated that Kiley was suicidal and armed.
