Middle school teacher tells students to call her Kim Kardashian, arrested for sex with teen student: Police

A former North Dakota middle-school teacher who allegedly allowed her students to refer to her as “Kim Kardashian” stands accused of sharing hundreds of sexually explicit videos and photos via Snapchat with two male students, and having sex with one of the boys in early June at a local park.

Shannon Moser, 37, who taught science at Liberty Middle School in North Fargo, was arrested Monday, and is facing two felony charges of using a minor in a sexual performance and one felony charge of sexual assault involving the incidents, according to Cass County court records.

Moser, of Moorhead, was employed with the school from 2016 until her resignation on July 12, WDAZ reports. An attorney for the suspect, Scott Brad, told the station that she doesn’t have a criminal record and was a volunteer in the community.

“She’s mentored younger women and mothers who went through a tough upbringing,” Brand said. “She has been an instrumental person in people’s lives in a positive way.”

Police reports beg to differ. Authorities said they received an anonymous tip regarding Moser having sex with a 16-year-old male student in Rendezvous Park, located in West Fargo. When detectives interviewed the boy on July 3, he initially denied any inappropriate relationship with the married woman.

Upon further questioning, police said the teen admitted to getting into her van and having sex on a gravel road at the park with Moser in early June. He also reportedly told his mother that he did indeed have sexual contact with the suspect. Moser allegedly told the student afterwards that “no one can know,” a police report states. The boy said Moser sent more photos and asked him at least once to have sex again after the encounter, but he turned her down.

Additionally, a 15-year-old victim told police Moser sent him a video of herself and her husband engaging in sex acts, adding that the alleged pedophile had been sharing photos that were sexual in nature with him via Snapchat for about a year, according to reports. Police indicated they don’t believe the ex-teacher and second teen ever had physical contact.

On July 11, Moser voluntarily spoke with investigators with the Moorhead Police Department after officials picked her up at her home. Though a police report reveals she was hesitant to answer questions, worried about the impact it would have on her husband and four children, she did deny the allegations—but also said, “we always preach, ‘tell the truth,’ and I have not been.”

She eventually requested an attorney involving the matter.

Moser’s cellphone was subsequently seized by authorities, who said they later discovered an internet history that revealed URLs of porn sites featuring older women engaging in sex with younger boys.

The suspect appeared in court Tuesday morning, and her bail has been set at $30,000. A judge ordered that Moser have no contact with the two boys or any social media activity.

She is due back in court August 23.
