Husband stabs girlfriend to death months after she helps him kill his wife: Police

A Mississippi man suspected in his wife’s slaying was recently charged with capital murder in Texas for allegedly fatally stabbing his girlfriend in April.

According to KPLC, Darrell Burnside, 49, was arrested Wednesday in Louisana after investigators in Harris County filed murder charges in connection with the April 24 stabbing death of his girlfriend, Ashley George, 25. George’s body was reportedly found near the water’s edge at Clear Lake Park; her car was recovered from a nearby parking lot.

KTRK reported that the night before the murder, George told her parents she was going to meet a friend to exercise. Surveillance cameras apparently caught George driving into the parking lot after 10 p.m.

Police believe George’s murder was retaliatory; the Harris County Sheriff’s Office recently revealed that George and Burnside were suspects in January’s slaying of the man’s wife, Carol Burnside. KPLC reported that Louisiana State Police and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office searched Darrell’s car and home in  Calcasieu Parish on August 23.

WBCI reported that Carol died inside her Mississippi home. As of right now, Darrell isn’t charged in connection with his wife’s death.

Darrell expressed shock and disbelief to WCBI shortly after his wife’s murder. It’s not immediately known when he’ll be extradited to Texas to face charges.

“My wife Carolyn was one of the most beautiful, inspirational people that you could ever meet,” he told the news station in January.

“The legacy she’s going to leave that’s here with us is her unyielding love.”
