Woman found dead inside inflatable swimming pool; brother charged with murder

Virginia authorities have arrested a man for the apparent murder of his sister, who was found dead inside of an inflatable swimming pool Saturday.

Officials announced that Ashton Dunlap Berry, 51, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 53-year-old sibling, Angie A. Walls, the Faquier Times reports.

Police responded to a 911 call placed by the victim’s boyfriend, and found the woman’s body at approximately 2:30 p.m. in an inflatable pool on the rear deck of her home, Sgt. James Hartman, spokesman for the Faquier County Sheriff’s Office, told the news outlet.

Officials say the siblings were living together in the Warrenton home, located on the 6700 block of Riley Road.

While Hartman said the exact cause and manner of death will be determined through an autopsy, he added that it’s “suspected the victim may have died as a result of intentional drowning.”

Berry is behind bars without bond at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center as the investigation continues.
