Baby boy found dead after father leaves him alone in bathtub: Police

Alabama authorities announced that a 5-month-old baby is dead after apparently drowning in a bathtub inside a Jefferson County apartment on Sunday.

Center Point Chief Donnie West said that the medics who responded to the incident at a Jefferson County Housing Authority Complex saw the unidentified infant being carried out of the apartment upon arrival, Al.com reports.

First responders and paramedics reportedly used CPR efforts to try and revive the baby boy while en route to a local hospital—but he was tragically pronounced dead soon after arriving. Chief Deputy Randy Christian said a preliminary investigation indicated that the child’s father had placed him in the bathtub, but then left the room.

When the father returned to the room, the baby was unresponsive, according to the deputy.

“I can’t imagine how hard this is going to be on that child’s family,” Christian told Al.com. “This will be heart-wrenching for all involved. God be with them.”

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide updates as information becomes available.
