High school cheerleader handed out pot brownies to get votes for homecoming queen: Report

Police in Michigan are investigating after a high school cheerleader allegedly passed out brownies laced with marijuana oil in her bid for homecoming queen.

Per WXMI, a criminal investigation began at Hartford High School after police said school officials received a tip that a 17-year-old female student gave brownies to the football team. Twelve brownies were reportedly brought to the school on September 26; some were placed in goodie bags that were distributed during homecoming week.

“The school’s taking this very seriously,” Hartford Police Department patrolman Michael Prince said. “They are doing their own investigation, and they’re just starting to turn over some of the statements from the students possibly involved or witnesses.”

The outlet reported that the tip also indicated that the student used the leftover brownies to bribe classmates to vote for her as homecoming queen. School staff reportedly recovered three of the 12 brownies, which were taken to a crime lab for testing.

Prince claimed the suspected culprit and her mother are out of the state for a family emergency. He said he’s planning to interview them upon their return.

He told WWMT, “You always think you’ve heard it all and seen it all, and there is always something new to surprise you.”
