‘Where is mommy?’: Pregnant mom of 4 struck, killed by drunk driver while pushing stalled car off road

Authorities said an Illinois mother was killed Monday evening when a drunk driver mowed her down as she pushed a broken-down vehicle off the road.

WLS reported that Aries Cobian, 29, and her cousin were pushing a disabled Oldsmobile down a road in Streamwood when Hinigo Olvera, 67, rear-ended Cobian, pinning her between the two vehicles. A friend told the news station that Cobian was 12 weeks pregnant; her four children are ages 10, 8, 3, and 6 months.

Olvera is now facing a charge of aggravated DUI causing death after authorities determined he was drunk when he drove his pickup truck into Cobian. The cousin nor Olvera were harmed in the collision, according to local reports.

WBBM reported that dashboard cameras caught Olvera throwing bottles of alcohol out of his truck.

“He’s not taking it well at all,” Kanaesha Wilson, Cobian’s sister, told WBBM of how her 3-year-old nephew is handling his mother’s death. “He recently asked me, ‘Where is mommy? where is mommy?’ and I’m just like, I couldn’t even explain to him ‘where is mommy.’ It’s very heartbreaking.”

Olvera was released from jail after posting 10 percent of a $1 million bond.
