VIDEO: High school student punches female teacher in face—reportedly on her first day back following cancer treatment

A disturbing video making the rounds reportedly shows a student at a Maryland high school strike a female teacher in her face in front of the class.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the incident occurred at Frederick Douglass High School. The video was posted to Instagram on Wednesday, where it’s garnered more than 70,000 views as of Thursday evening.

The video begins with another classmate restraining the female student back. The teacher is facing away from the pair, presumably talking to someone out of frame, when the student breaks free and punches her on the side of her face.

“F**k is you talking ’bout? Don’t f**king get smart with me,” the student is heard saying amid gasps—and laughs—from the class.

The teacher can be heard telling the student that she wasn’t getting smart as the student backs out of the door and leaves. The video ends with the teacher following the student out the door.

The caption claimed the teacher had just returned to school following “cancer surgery” and that the student had not been suspended for their actions.

The Sun has since confirmed that school officials investigated the incident. In a statement issued to the outlet, Baltimore City schools spokeswoman Edie House-Foster said, “school administrators will apply disciplinary action in accordance with Baltimore City Public Schools’ Code of Conduct.”
