Boy suspected of fatally stabbing his sister, wounding his mother in knife attack: Report

Authorities in Connecticut say a boy stabbed his sister to death, and wounded his mother during an attack on Monday afternoon.

According to WFSB, police said they reported to a 911 call a woman placed from a home located on Stoner Driver in West Hartford at about 3:30 p.m. The woman reportedly stated on the call that her son had stabbed both herself and her daughter.

Officials said the boy suffered a “minor injury” from the incident, and was subsequently detained. Further, the mother of the boy was taken to a local hospital where she was reportedly “listed in stable condition.”

The report did not specify the full names or ages of the suspect and the alleged victims, referring to them only as the “Murphy-Curtin family.” It was also reported that the minors were students at Sedgwick Middle School.

It is not known if the boy will be charged as an adult, and the case is now apparently in the hands of the chief state’s attorney’s office.

The superintendent of West Hartford Schools, Thomas Moore, reportedly indicated in a message to families of students in the district that help would be available at the schools.

“In difficult times, we do all that we can to support our families, students and staff members in dealing with crises,” Moore stated. “Please keep this family, their friends, and all of our children in your thoughts and prayers.”

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates as information becomes available.
