Rihanna sues dad for allegedly posing as her agent & using trademarked ‘Fenty’ brand for his own gain

Singer and makeup mogul Rihanna is reportedly suing her father, accusing him of using her Fenty brand for his own gain and claiming he fraudulently posed as her agent.

From TMZ, Rihanna, 30, has accused Ronald Fenty of unilaterally creating a talent development brand called Fenty Entertainment—despite the singer obtaining a trademark for the word “Fenty.” Rihanna is now claiming her father’s illegally using the “Fenty” name for his own business ventures.

Court documents obtained by The Blast indicated that Fenty and another man are accused of soliciting business by posing as Rihanna’s agents. Rihanna has accused her father of erroneously booking her a $15 million Latin America tour in addition to booking two concerts in Los Angeles, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, for $400,000.

The “Diamonds” singer also alleged that Fenty managed business offers through her label, Roc Nation, but she claimed nobody from the label was aware of what he was doing.

“Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf,” the lawsuit stated.

Rihanna said she’s sent numerous cease and desist letters to Fenty only for him to continue to earn money through Fenty Entertainment. The singer is reportedly seeking an injunction and unspecified damages from her father.

Rihanna has been open about her tumultuous relationship with her father. In 2012, she told Oprah that she witnessed her father give her mother a broken nose. Around the same time, she told Vogue that she felt betrayed by her father for sneakily selling information to tabloids following her assault, reportedly at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

“You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, ‘Not my family. My father would never do that to me,'” the then-23-year-old told the magazine.

“But my dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies. Because he hadn’t talked to me after that whole thing. He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check.”
