Wife burns husband alive after he refuses to give her his phone password: Reports

A woman in Indonesia reportedly burned her husband alive during an argument over his phone password.

The Mirror reported that the dispute occurred after Cahyani Purnama, 25 asked her husband, Dedi, 26, for his phone’s passcode as he repaired roof tiles on their home. Amid the verbal row, police said Dedi came down from the roof and hit his wife, who then retrieved a can of gasoline and allegedly poured the liquid all over Dedi before taking a lighter to him.

A witness reportedly said they helped extinguish the flames. Photos of Dedi purportedly show him lying on a mattress with severe burns to his upper body; he was reportedly hospitalized for two days before succumbing to his injuries.

Reports indicated that the wife was taken into custody, though it’s unclear if she has been criminally charged. Oke News reported that police accompanied her to her husband’s funeral. At the service, she was reportedly met with hostility by local residents, including Dedi’s mother, who’s said to have fiercely blocked her entry to the funeral home.

He refused to hand it over – so she poured petrol on him and set him on fire.
