Lionel Richie: Singer’s model son detained after allegedly threatening to detonate bomb at airport

Police in the UK issued a caution to the model son of singer Lionel Richie after he allegedly threatened to detonate a bomb and assaulted a security guard at Heathrow Airport.

TMZ reports that Miles Brockman Richie, 24, was detained and released following Saturday’s incident at the London airport. Sources told the tabloid that Miles was barred from boarding the flight, leading him to claim he had a bomb in his bag that he would set off if he wasn’t allowed on the plane.

Sources also claimed Miles punched a security guard before police intervened and detained him.

TMZ explained that a caution isn’t the same as charging someone with a crime. While they aren’t required to go to court or arrested, if accepted it goes on that person’s record.

It remains unclear why Miles was prevented from boarding the plane.

“On Saturday, January 19, a 24-year-old man accepted a caution for communicating false information causing a bomb hoax and battery following an incident at Heathrow Terminal 5 earlier that morning,” Metropolitan Police confirmed to E! News.

Neither model or his 69-year-old father have commented on Saturday’s alleged scuff-up.
