Driver rams car into couple and flaunts the damage on social media; suspect may have been targeting ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend: Report

A woman is wanted in North Carolina for allegedly ramming her car into someone and then flaunting the crime on social media, WRAL-TV reports.

Authorities have reportedly issued warrants for Courtnay Danielle Lawrence, 22, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, failing to give aid and driving without a license.

Lawrence is accused of intentionally using her vehicle to strike another woman on Wednesday in Wilmington, North Carolina. The victim was struck at her right hip and then was launched into the air, landing on the left side of her body, according to WSOC-TV.

A man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt reportedly fled the area. Police believe he is romantically connected to Lawrence and was her ex-boyfriend.

Surveillance video captured the incident, in which a vehicle rams into a couple walking along a street.

The victim reportedly told investigators that she and the man were walking home from a store when she heard the sound of a horn and then was struck by a sedan. The victim sustained significant injuries, including damage to her head, hips, shoulder and knees, according to law enforcement.

The Wilmington Police Department had offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information about the driver.

Police on Friday then identified Lawrence from tips, including a Facebook photo she posted in which she was posing in front of her damaged 2016 Hyundai Elantra, according to WRAL-TV.
