DEVELOPING: Rock thrown from overpass kills mom-of-3 traveling with family

A Texas mother died Sunday night after the car she was driving in was struck by a large rock thrown from an overpass in Temple.

Keila Ruby Flores, 33, was the front seat passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on I-35 between exits 303 and 305 when a rock broke through the windshield, killing her. Her boyfriend and their three children were also in the car but were unharmed, according to KWTX.

“An explosion just comes right through the window. I didn’t know what it was,” the boyfriend recalled. “I look over and I see Keila and she is laying there unresponsive. I’m just shaking her, trying to wake her up, (but) she was unresponsive.”

A suspect hasn’t been identified and authorities have ordered an autopsy to confirm a cause and manner of death.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about Sunday’s incident should call the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500.
