Couple sexually assaulted girl for SIX YEARS starting when she was only five years old

A Louisana woman will likely spend the rest of her life in prison after she was found guilty last month of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl for six years.

From WGNO, Sandra E. Gaines, 39, was convicted March 28 of two counts of aggravated rape and three counts of sexual battery. The now-18-year-old victim testified that Gaines and her longtime boyfriend, Robert Flowers, started touching her sexually when she was five and had abused and raped her through 2012.

The Times-Picayune reported that the defense said Flowers abused the girl but claimed the girl was lying when she claimed Gaines also participated.

In 2015, Flowers was convicted of the same charges as Gaines and sentenced to life in prison. During his trial, the victim testified that Gaines had introduced her to Flowers when she was five, according to The New Orleans Advocate.

Gaines faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison when she is sentenced on April 10.
