Authorities in California say two juvenile teens are facing charges that they played a role in the shooting that left a 15-year-old girl dead in Compton last month.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Samantha Bustos was last seen with two unidentified males in a white SUV. Her body was found by an individual working near an area of bushes three days after she vanished.
Her remains reportedly showed signs of severe trauma to her torso.
According to the Los Angeles Times, two boys — both also 15 years old — were arrested in recent days.
One of the suspects was arrested on Saturday and was allegedly with Bustos at the time of her death. Police say he was arrested after detectives interviewed him and recommended a criminal charge of homicide.
Three days later, authorities visited the home of the other young suspect, who allegedly attempted to evade them by running to a nearby rooftop where he was ultimately arrested, also on suspicion of homicide. Police say he admitted his role in the fatal shooting during an interview with investigators.
Police described the two boys as acquaintances who live near each other.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office also confirmed Bustos was shot in her upper torso.
As of the latest updates available, authorities had not commented on a suspected motive. Authorities indicated the investigation remained ongoing.
