Comic Artie Lange arrested at halfway house on suspicion of violating probation from drug charge

Troubled entertainer Artie Lange was arrested once again this week on suspicion of violating probation just a few months after he was locked up for alleged drug possession.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the 51-year-old funnyman blamed drug abuse for damage to his nose that became apparent in recent photos.

According to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Lange was at a New Jersey halfway house on Tuesday morning when officers arrived to arrest him, according to Page Six.

“He was arrested for not being in compliance with the terms and conditions of the drug court program,” said an office spokesperson.

Police say a court had issued an arrest warrant for Lange the previous day.

“He was coherent and cooperative,” said a law enforcement source. “Very routine. He looks a hell of a lot better than he did three months ago.”

Despite apparent progress in the program, including when he was spotted performing community service last month, Lange is expected to face a charge of probation violation in connection with his latest brush with the law.

He was convicted of heroin possession and sentenced to four years of probation, escaping a stint behind bars after testing positive for cocaine use late last year.
