Country music star Granger Smith revealed Thursday that he and his family are mourning the sudden loss of his 3-year-old son.
Smith took to Instagram to announce that his youngest son, River, died in a “tragic accident.” Since then, the singer’s rep. told Just Jared that the toddler drowned at home.
“Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life,” he wrote. “Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”
Citing the Williamson County Police Department, Radar Online reported that EMTs and the fire unit were called to the family’s Texas home on Wednesday night.
According to the tabloid, Smith canceled a Thursday night performance in Kansas City.
Granger Smith and actress Amber Emily Bartlett, who wed in 2010, have two other children, Lincoln, 5, and London, 7.
“Love the ones close to you,” the post concluded. “There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.”
