Newborn preemie dies after being beaten in mom’s arms during domestic dispute: Reports

A 2-month-old in Wisconsin died Wednesday, hours after he was reportedly struck during a domestic dispute involving a man and his mother.

Citing police, WITI reported that a man had struck newborn Jaquerrion Dancer early Wednesday, causing injuries that resulted in his hospitalization and subsequent death. The man, whose identity hasn’t been released to the public, is in custody as police determine a motive.

Investigators had been called to Dancer’s Milwaukee home that morning for a domestic disturbance. WISN reported that Dancer was in his mother’s arms when the suspect began striking the pair.

Police haven’t confirmed whether the suspect is the deceased newborn’s father.  Reverend Dan Quakkelaar, a local pastor who’s offering the grieving mother support, told WISN that Dancer had been born prematurely.

Assistant Chief Steve Caballero said the prosecutor’s office will be reviewing the case. WITI reported that an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
