‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood loses custody of toddler son after threatening him & boyfriend with machete: Reports

“Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood has temporarily lost custody of her 1-year-old son after she assaulted her boyfriend and threatened him and the toddler with a machete, according to reports.

An Indiana judge reportedly barred Portwood, 29, from contacting her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, 35, or son until criminal proceedings concluded. Documents obtained by TMZ stated that the Department of Child Services interviewed Glennon Monday and will recommend he be awarded custody of their son.

Portwood was charged with several felonies, including domestic battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, after she reportedly attacked Glennon after they weren’t able to get fireworks due to heavy traffic. An affidavit acquired by Radar Online stated that Portwood threatened suicide and downed a “handful” of Klonopin during the July 4 incident.

After the firework argument, Glennon reportedly dropped Portwood off at their home to “cool off” while he and their son drove around. Upon returning home, Portwood allegedly struck Glennon with a shoe while holding the baby, prompting Glennon to leave the home with the child a second time.

According to the affidavit, Glennon returned three hours later with food and a gift for Portwood, who allegedly followed him upstairs and “was coming at him like she was going to hit him.” Portwood realized Glennon was becoming upset and reportedly threatened to take her own life and took multiple pills.

Portwood reportedly vomited the pills after Glennon said he was going to call for help. Moments later, she allegedly picked up a machete and approached Glennon and their son, prompting Glennon to lock her out the room.

The affidavit stated that Portwood struck “the door with the machete and kicked the door and broke the handle.”

While Portwood denied the machete allegations she reportedly admitted to striking her boyfriend with a shoe while he held their son. She claimed that the shoe “barely” hit him in the shoulder, Radar reported.

“[Portwoood is] currently unable to provide a safe, stable, and secure environment for James on an ongoing basis due to her frequent refusal and/or failure to take medicines prescribed to treat her mental-health conditions, among other concerns,” Child Services wrote in recently-filed documents, according to TMZ.

The tabloid reported that the father of Portwood’s 10-year-old daughter and his wife were present at Wednesday’s criminal hearing and spotted consoling Portwood.

The reality star is currently free on bond. Sources told Us Weekly that Glennon is seeking full custody of their son.
