Authorities in New York are searching for a man who they said hit a 74-year-old woman in the head with a bottle and tried to rape her on Wednesday.
Citing police, WNBC reported that the suspect forced his way inside the Queens woman’s home after she answered a knock at her door at around midnight. Once inside, the man allegedly knocked the victim to the floor before hitting her in the head with an empty beer bottle and dragging her to her bedroom by her foot.
Police said that the suspect attempted to sexually assault the woman then left the home. Law enforcement sources told WCBS that he fled without taking anything.
The victim reportedly sustained a laceration to her head and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities have described the suspect as a Hispanic man, roughly 30 to 35 years old, around 5-foot, 6 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, and wearing a gray shirt and pants.
