Shopper loading groceries finds dead man in back of her pickup truck: Police

Authorities in New York are investigating after a woman reportedly found a dead man in her pickup truck while loading groceries.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they were called to the Tops supermarket on Friday following the discovery of a dead body. The woman who found him claimed she had finished shopping when she spotted the unknown man in the bed of her pickup truck, according to the police department.

Neither the 911 caller or police have been able to identify the decedent, who Niagara County Sheriff James Votour told WNBC is Hispanic, 40 to 50 years old, and was wearing jeans and a light-colored shirt. Votour said they’ll use fingerprints and facial recognition in hopes of identifying him.

A cause of death remains undetermined. Police said the body was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for an autopsy.
