Masked man steals car with toddler inside, drops them off at church: Police

Authorities in Texas have arrested a suspected thief who allegedly stole a car with a 1-year-old inside.

Citing police, Dallas Morning News reports that the unidentified suspect left the toddler at a Fort Worth church on Tuesday morning. A church employee called police, reporting that a man wearing a handkerchief left the baby there. Responding officers ultimately arrested the suspect near an adjacent creek bed.

KENS reported that the vehicle in question—a blue Chevrolet Malibu—was stolen with the child inside at 7:45 a.m. Police located the car at the back of an apartment complex, without the child inside, at 8:15 a.m.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene before the church employee called authorities about the 1-year-old being dropped off by a man wearing a handkerchief to obscure his face.
