Roommate & boyfriend strangled, smothered college student whose body was placed in plastic bin & dumped in park: Docs

A Georgia woman found dead on Friday was choked and smothered by her roommate and her roommate’s boyfriend before the pair dumped her body in a park, recently-released documents have revealed.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has obtained warrants showing that Alexis Crawford, 21, and her roommate, Jordyn Jones, 21, had gotten in a physical altercation at their apartment on October 31. Jones’ boyfriend, Barron Brantley, 21, intervened and allegedly choked Crawford until she died.

According to WXIA, a warrant for Jones alleged that she smothered Crawford with a trash bag until she stopped breathing and died.

Brantley reportedly shared the details of Crawford’s death on November 8, the same day Crawford’s body was discovered in Exchange Park in Decatur.

Crawford’s family reported her missing on November 1, and told authorities that they last heard from her on October 30. The Clark Atlanta student was reportedly spotted at a liquor store the same evening.

Days before her disappearance, on October 27, Crawford filed a police report alleging that Brantley had kissed and touched her without her consent. Authorities said Crawford, Jones, and Brantley were drinking on the night of the incident and that Brantley later claimed he thought he was touching his girlfriend.

Brantley allegedly then followed Crawford into her bathroom and bedroom. Police said that Jones claimed she banged on the bathroom door until her boyfriend exited shirtless. He reportedly denied having sexual contact with Crawford before leaving the residence in his girlfriend’s car.

Crawford was reportedly found nearly naked in her bathroom. She told her roommate that she could not recall Brantley being in the bathroom with her before she lost consciousness, according to the police report.

Crawford was hospitalized and a rape kit was administered. She vanished three days later.

Amid Crawford’s disappearance, Jones told police that she and Crawford were not on speaking terms due to a “separate incident.” However, she allegedly claimed she took Crawford to the liquor store at around 11:30 p.m. and had last seen her at their apartment before she went to bed at 12:30 a.m.

Jones and Brantley are charged with felony murder and remain jailed without bond. Jones, who is on probation for a DUI charge in Michigan, is due to appear in court on November 25. Brantley’s next court date is scheduled for November 22.
