Boyfriend scalds woman’s 7-year-old in shower over bad grade: Cops

A Texas woman and her boyfriend have been arrested over an incident in March when the man put hera 7-year-old son in a scalding shower because of a bad grad in school.

John Terrell, 28, has been charged with abuse for putting the boy in the hot shower, which caused burns over 26 percent of his body. The boy also said Terrell spanked and choked him when he got out of the shower, KHOU reported.

The child’s mother, 26-year-old Roekeicha Brisby, allegedly lied to police about how the boy was burned and did not take him for treatment until three days after the incident.

According to court documents, Brisby initially told detectives that she had water on the stove boiling, and her son leaned over to pick up a basketball. She said he hit the pot’s handle with his head as he stood up, causing the water to spill. Investigators said they had determined her statement was false, ABC 13 reported.

The station reported that the boy told an interviewer that Terrell took off the shower head and pointed the hot water on him. The court documents said the child’s burns were mostly over his head and torso and that he was permanently scarred.

Terrell and Brisby are expected in court on Monday.
