MISSING: Days after retired police officer arrested for domestic violence, his estranged wife vanishes

Authorities in West Virginia are searching for a woman who was reported missing on Monday.

WSAZ reported that Mary Cathleen Haley-Scott, 32, was last seen last week driving in the Raleigh County area in a blue 2020 Kia passenger car with temporary Virginia registration reading URV3345.

Hayley-Scott’s estranged husband, William Scott, was reportedly arrested on domestic violence charges days before her disappearance. WOAY reported that Hayley-Scott filed the complaint and an arrest warrant was issued on December 9. Scott reportedly turned himself in on December 11.

William Scott reportedly worked for West Virginia State Police for 26 years. A police spokesperson confirmed to the news station that he is a retired member who currently acts as a civilian employee.

Scott is reportedly cooperating with authorities. Magistrate Dane Little said Scott has claimed he has not seen his estranged wife in months.

He is currently free on bond and is due in court on January 7.
