Arrest made in murder of Long Island mom, nursing student found dead in her bed by her parents

The suspect is believed to be Kelly Owen’s husband

Authorities in Long Island have made an arrest in the murder of a young mother who was found dead in her family home earlier this month.

As the New York Post reports, Michael Owen, 27, has been arrested for the murder of 27-year-old Kelly Owen, the mother of a 6-year-old girl who was found dead in Farmingdale on January 15.

Owen and her daughter lived with her parents, who found the young woman dead in her bed that afternoon. At the time, police said there was no sign of a break-in.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, an autopsy found that Owen, who was a nursing student, died of asphyxiation.

According to multiple reports, sources have said the suspect is believed to be the victim’s husband.

Newsday reports that Owen is set to be arraigned on second-degree murder charges.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
