Suspect tried to sexually assault nurse working on coronavirus front line, police say

Police have arrested a man they believe tried to rape a nurse who is working in New York City amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The NYPD arrested Jason Roberts, 35, in downtown Manhattan on Monday night. Roberts is facing attempted rape, burglary, and robbery charges for an incident that occurred Friday in Hamilton Heights, according to WPIX.

Roberts allegedly punched the victim in her face before trying to remove her pants. Police said the victim managed to fend off her attacker, but he fled with her cellphone.

WPIX reported that the nurse refused medical treatment for bruises she sustained in Friday’s attack. Police said she was in New York City to help on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic.
